About CPM Calculator
The CPM Calculator solves the cost-per-mille relationship in both directions. Enter any two of media cost, impressions, and CPM and it computes the third using CPM = cost / impressions x 1000. Flip the toggle to work backward: find how many impressions a budget buys at a given CPM, or the media cost required to serve a target number of impressions. It is built for media buyers, ad-ops teams, and planners who price display, video, and programmatic inventory and need a quick, exact number while building an insertion order or reconciling a campaign. Results update as you type, with clear guards on zero and negative inputs. Everything runs in your browser, so budgets, spend, and impression figures never leave your device.

- Read the computed result below the inputs
- Copy the result to paste into your media plan or IO
- Switch the toggle to run the calculation the other way
Example
Input
media cost: $500
impressions: 200,000
Output
CPM = 500 / 200000 x 1000 = $2.50
$500 spread over 200,000 impressions is a $2.50 CPM.
Common errors & troubleshooting
- Result shows 'Enter an impression count greater than 0.' — CPM divides by impressions, so the impression field must be a positive number. Enter the real delivered or planned impression count.
- CPM and eCPM do not match your report. — eCPM includes total revenue across all formats and fill; use the eCPM calculator for blended yield. This tool computes plain CPM from a single cost and impression pair.
- Impressions come out as a fraction. — Impressions are shown rounded to whole units. A budget rarely divides evenly by a CPM, so round to the nearest impression when writing the plan.
- Numbers with commas or a dollar sign are rejected elsewhere. — This calculator strips commas and currency symbols for you, so $1,000 and 1000 are read the same. Paste figures straight from your spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the CPM formula this calculator uses?
- CPM = cost / impressions x 1000. Media cost rearranges to CPM x impressions / 1000, and impressions to cost / CPM x 1000. The calculator applies whichever form matches the value you are solving for.
- How many impressions will my budget buy at a set CPM?
- Switch to the Impressions mode and enter your budget and CPM. Impressions = budget / CPM x 1000, so a $1,000 budget at a $5 CPM buys 200,000 impressions.
- What is the difference between CPM and eCPM?
- CPM is the agreed price per 1,000 impressions for one buy. eCPM is effective CPM, a blended yield across formats, fill, and revenue. Use the eCPM calculator for the blended figure.
- Does the calculator round impressions and money?
- Money is shown to two decimals (a few more when needed), and impressions are rounded to whole units since you cannot serve a partial impression. The copy button gives the precise value.
- Are my budget and impression numbers uploaded anywhere?
- No. The CPM Calculator runs entirely in your browser. The costs, impressions, and CPMs you type are computed on your device and never sent to ArrayKit.
