Image Resizer Online
Resize one photo or a whole batch by exact pixels, percentage, longest side or a ready-made social and form preset — all in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
Photos are decoded, resized and saved by your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and saving again strips EXIF metadata such as camera details and location.
The Image Resizer changes the pixel dimensions of photos without sending them anywhere. You choose one of four ways to say what size you want: an exact width and height (leave one empty and it is worked out from each photo's own proportions), a percentage of the original, a preset such as Instagram 1080×1080, YouTube 1280×720 or a 200×230 exam-form photo, or a longest side, so landscape and portrait shots both end up the right size. When a preset has a different shape from your photo, you decide what happens: Contain adds bars, Cover crops from the centre, Stretch distorts. Big reductions are made in halving steps to keep edges sharp, small photos are never enlarged unless you allow it, and every card shows its new dimensions and file size before you download one photo or the whole batch as a ZIP.
Features
Four ways to set the size: pixels, percentage from 10 to 400, preset, or longest side
Keeps proportions by default; leave one side empty and it is worked out for every photo
Presets for Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, WhatsApp, Pinterest, Discord, icons, screens and ID or exam forms
Contain, Cover or Stretch when a preset's shape differs from the photo
Large reductions are made in halving steps so edges stay sharp
Never enlarges a small photo unless you turn that protection off
Save as the original format, JPEG, PNG or WebP, with a quality slider and a background colour for bars
Handles many photos at once, shows the before and after size of each, and packs them into one ZIP
How to use the Image Resizer
Drop, choose or paste one or more photos
Pick Pixels, Percentage, Preset or Longest side and enter the size
Choose how a different shape is handled, the output format and the quality
Check the new dimensions and file size on each card
The height is worked out from the photo's own proportions, so nothing is distorted.
Common errors & troubleshooting
The picture looks stretched or squashed. — Proportions were unlocked with both sides filled in, or Stretch is selected. Turn Keep proportions on and enter one side only, or switch a preset's fit to Contain or Cover.
The result is smaller than the size I typed. — Don't enlarge small photos is on and the original was smaller than the request, so it kept its own size. Turn that option off to reach the exact figure.
A transparent PNG came out with a white background. — JPEG cannot hold transparency, so it is filled with the background colour. Save as PNG or WebP and tick Transparent bars to keep see-through areas.
An iPhone photo would not open. — HEIC pictures only open in browsers that can read them. Set Settings → Camera → Formats to Most Compatible, or share the photo as a JPEG, then add it again.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize a photo with the Image Resizer without distorting it?
Keep proportions on and enter only a width or a height — the other side is calculated from the photo's own shape. With a preset, choose Contain to keep the whole picture or Cover to crop from the centre. Stretch is the only option that changes proportions.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing here?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions; the file gets smaller as a side effect, but you do not control by how much. Compressing aims at a byte limit such as 100 KB by adjusting quality. If a form asks for kilobytes, resize first for the dimensions, then use Compress Image to Size.
What are the best sizes for Instagram, YouTube and other platforms?
The Preset list holds the common ones: Instagram post 1080×1080, portrait 1080×1350, story and reel 1080×1920, YouTube thumbnail 1280×720, Facebook shared image 1200×630 and more. Platforms revise their recommendations, so check their current guidance if an upload is rejected.
Why did my file get bigger after I enlarged the picture?
Enlarging adds pixels that were not in the original. More pixels mean more data to store but no extra detail, so the file grows and the picture looks softer. That is why enlarging is off by default.
Should I save resized photos as PNG, JPEG or WebP?
JPEG suits photographs and gives small files. PNG is lossless and best for screenshots, logos and anything transparent. WebP is usually smaller than either where the browser can write it. Original keeps each file's own format and turns GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG into PNG.
Are my photos uploaded when I resize them in ArrayKit?
No. Each photo is opened, resized and saved by your browser on your own device, one at a time. Nothing is sent to ArrayKit, and saving again removes EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location.
