Passport Photo Maker
Crop a photo to a passport or ID size at exact pixels, then lay copies out on a 4×6, A4 or Letter sheet — all in your browser, so your picture is never uploaded.
Your photo is an identity picture, so it is opened, cropped and saved by your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, and saving again removes EXIF metadata such as location.
The Passport Photo Maker turns an ordinary photo into one cut to an ID-photo size and, if you want, lays copies out on a sheet you can print at home or take to a photo lab. Choose a size — United States and India 2×2 in, UK and EU 35×45 mm, Canada 50×70 mm, China, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Russia, an exam-form 200×230 px, or your own — and a resolution of 300 or 600 dpi, and the exact pixel size is worked out for you. Drag, zoom, rotate and tilt the photo inside the frame, adjust brightness and contrast, set the background colour, and use the optional guide to centre the head. Save the single photo as JPEG or PNG, with an optional file-size limit, or a print sheet as PNG, JPEG or a PDF at true size.
Features
Presets for the United States, India, the UK, EU and Schengen, Canada, Australia, China, Japan, Brazil, Russia and exam forms, plus any custom size
Exact output pixels at 300 or 600 dpi, such as 413×531 px for a 35×45 mm photo
Drag to move, scroll or pinch to zoom, rotate in quarter turns and tilt up to 15 degrees
Brightness and contrast sliders and a background colour for cut-outs or zoomed-out photos
An optional head, chin and eye-line guide to help centre the face — guidance, not face detection
Optional maximum file size for the JPEG, lowering quality while the pixel size stays untouched
Print sheets on 4×6 in, 5×7 in, A4 or US Letter with gap, margin, copy count and cut marks
Download the sheet as PNG, JPEG or a PDF whose photos are the true physical size
How to use the Passport Photo Maker
Add a front-facing photo by dropping it, choosing it or pasting it
Pick the country or form size and 300 or 600 dpi
Drag, zoom and tilt the photo until the face is centred in the frame
Download the single photo, or choose paper and download a print sheet or PDF
Example
Input
Size: United States 2×2 in · 300 dpi
Paper: 4×6 in, no gap, no margin
Output
US 2×2 in @ 300 dpi → 600×600 px · 4×6 sheet → 6 copies
A 4×6 in sheet holds six 2×2 in photos, two across and three down.
Common errors & troubleshooting
The upload form rejects my photo's dimensions. — Check whether the form asks for pixels or millimetres. Use the exact pixel size or a custom pixel size, and remember that 300 dpi turns 35×45 mm into 413×531 px.
The printed photo comes out the wrong size. — The printer scaled the page. Print at 100% or actual size with fit to page switched off, or use the PDF, which carries the true physical size.
There are coloured edges around the photo after zooming out. — Zooming below 100% shrinks the picture inside the frame and fills the rest with the background colour. Zoom back in, or move the picture until the frame sits inside it.
The face does not line up with the guide. — The guide is a rough generic outline, not an official template. Use it to centre the head, then check your country's own rules for head size and position.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a passport photo in each country?
Sizes vary. The United States and India use 2×2 inches (about 51×51 mm), the UK, the EU and Schengen countries, Australia, Japan and Russia use 35×45 mm, Canada and Brazil use 50×70 mm, and China uses 33×48 mm. Requirements change, so confirm with the authority that issues the document.
How do I print passport photos on a 4×6 photo print?
Choose 4×6 in paper, leave the gap and margin at zero, and download the PNG or JPEG. A 2×2 in photo gives six copies, two across and three down. A 35×45 mm photo fits eight when the paper is turned sideways, which Auto does for you.
What background colour and glasses rules apply to passport photos?
They differ by country and by document, and they change, so this tool does not state them as rules. Look up the official guidance of the passport office or visa centre. You can set any background colour here, but nothing checks that a photo will be accepted.
How many passport photos fit on an A4 sheet?
With 35×45 mm photos and no gap or margin, 36 fit on A4: six across and six down. With a 5 mm margin and 2 mm gaps it is 30. The tool shows the exact count for your paper, size, gap and margin before you download.
Why do exact pixels matter when I upload a passport photo online?
Many portals check the pixel dimensions and the file size and reject anything outside their range. The maker works out the exact pixels from the physical size and the resolution you pick, and can hold the JPEG under a size limit without changing those pixels.
Does the Passport Photo Maker detect faces?
No. The overlay is a generic guide with a head oval, a chin band and an eye line to help you centre a face. Nothing analyses the picture, so it cannot say whether a photo meets an authority's requirements. Always check the official rules.
