About Crop PDF
The crop PDF tool trims unwanted margins from every page of a document by setting the crop box, all processed locally in your browser. Drop in a PDF and enter how much to trim from the top, right, bottom and left in points (72 points equal one inch), then download the cropped file. It is a fast way to remove pdf margins, tidy up scanned pages, or focus on a specific region before printing or sharing. Because the crop box hides rather than deletes content, nothing in the original is lost, and you can adjust the pdf crop box per side. Developers, designers, students and anyone who needs to trim pdf margins quickly will find it useful, and since the file is processed locally in your browser, your data never leaves your device.

Common errors & troubleshooting
- "Margins are larger than the page. Reduce them." — Your combined left+right or top+bottom values exceed the page size. Lower the trim amounts so the remaining width and height stay above one point.
- Cropped content still appears in some viewers. — The tool sets the crop box, which hides rather than deletes content. Some viewers and editors can reveal trimmed areas, so use a different tool if you need permanent removal.
- Trim looks too small or too large. — Values are in points, not pixels or inches. Multiply inches by 72 (or millimetres by 2.83) to get the right number.
- "Could not read this PDF." — The file may be encrypted or corrupted. Remove the password or re-export the PDF and try again.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the Crop PDF tool?
- It is an online crop pdf tool that sets the crop box on every page so you can trim unwanted margins. The same top, right, bottom and left trim is applied across the whole document in one pass.
- How do I crop margins from a PDF?
- Drop your PDF onto the tool, enter the points to trim for the top, right, bottom and left, then click Crop & download to save a -cropped.pdf with the new crop box applied.
- Does the Crop PDF tool delete the trimmed margins?
- No. It sets the crop box, which hides the trimmed area rather than removing it, so the original content is preserved within the file.
- What units do the margin values use?
- Points, where 72 points equal one inch. To trim half an inch, enter 36, and the tool guards against margins larger than the page.
- Can I crop each side by a different amount?
- Yes. The top, right, bottom and left fields are independent, so you can trim uneven margins on a single page or scan.
- Is my PDF uploaded anywhere when I crop it?
- No. The crop PDF tool runs entirely in your browser, so your file is processed locally and your data never leaves your device.
