What can I do with these PDF tools?
Merge, split, reorder, rotate, crop and compress PDFs, and convert them to and from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, EPUB, HTML and TIFF. You can add page numbers, watermarks, headers, pictures or a drawn signature, fill in or create forms, recognise text in scans, add a password or remove one you know, and redact. Other tools inspect fonts, links, metadata and word counts, and a few summarise a PDF or answer questions about it with a model that runs on your device.
How do I make a PDF smaller?
Compress PDF redraws every page as a JPEG at the quality and resolution you pick. That shrinks scans and photo-heavy files the most, but the text stops being selectable and a text-only PDF may not shrink at all. Compress PDF to Size works the same way and searches for the best quality that fits under a target such as 200 KB or 2 MB. To keep the text, cut the file into parts under a limit with Split PDF by Size, or make a lighter copy without the pictures with Remove Images from PDF.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Each tool opens and processes your file inside the browser tab, so contracts, ID scans and statements stay on your device. PDF OCR, Handwriting to Text, PDF Summarizer, Chat with PDF and Audio to PDF Transcript download their recognition data or model from a public host on first use, and your browser caches it. Nothing from your documents is sent with that download.
Will my text and layout survive a conversion?
Page tools such as Merge PDFs, Split PDF, Organize PDF and Rotate PDF copy pages as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Conversions rebuild the content: PDF to Word recovers headings, paragraphs and lists from the text layer but not images or exact positions, and Word to PDF keeps headings, lists, tables and page breaks in a standard font, without images. A scan has no text to convert, so run PDF OCR first; it redraws each page as an image at 144 or 216 dpi and adds invisible, searchable text. Compress PDF and Redact PDF also redraw pages as images.
Can these tools replace a desktop PDF editor?
For many common jobs, yes: merging, splitting, converting, filling and creating forms, signing, OCR and redaction all happen in the browser. Two work differently from a full editor. Edit PDF Text covers old wording with a white box and types over it rather than reflowing the paragraph, and the original words stay in the file underneath, so use Redact PDF for anything sensitive. Sign PDF places a drawn signature, which is a picture of your handwriting rather than a certificate-based digital signature.
