About Edit PDF Text

Most PDF edits are small and urgent: a wrong date on a signed form, a misspelled name on a certificate, a price that changed after the file was exported and before it was sent. Rebuilding the source document for that is out of proportion. This tool does what a correction fluid and a pen do on paper — cover the old wording with a white box, then type the new wording in its place. The edits are drawn onto the existing pages rather than replacing them, so everything else in the document keeps its selectable text, its embedded fonts and its vector artwork, and the file stays the size it was.

How to use the Edit PDF Text

Because the page itself is not re-rendered, the order number above the date is still selectable text.

Common errors & troubleshooting

The old text shows through around the edges of the box. — Widen and heighten the box slightly in the edit list. Boxes are placed where you click, not fitted to the text underneath.
The new text does not match the document's font. — Edits are drawn in a standard PDF typeface. For a close match on a body-text correction, use the serif or sans setting that looks nearest and keep the correction short.
Some characters in my correction were left out. — The built-in typefaces cover Latin scripts. Characters outside them cannot be drawn, and the count is reported when you save.
The covered text can still be copied from the file. — A white box hides text without removing it. If it must be gone rather than hidden, redact the page instead.
