About EPUB to PDF
An EPUB is a small website in a ZIP: a package document that lists the files, a spine that fixes the reading order, and a folder of XHTML chapters. Reflowable text is exactly what you want on a phone and exactly what you cannot annotate on paper. This converter opens the package, follows the spine rather than the alphabet, and turns each chapter into laid-out pages. Every chapter is listed with its title so you can leave out the front matter, the copyright page or the sections you do not need, and the whole book is set in serif type at a reading size by default.

The spine ordering matters: alphabetical file names would put chapter 10 before chapter 2.
Common errors & troubleshooting
- A Kindle file is refused. — MOBI, AZW and AZW3 use Amazon's containers rather than the EPUB package. Convert the book to EPUB in a library manager first.
- The book will not open at all. — Books bought from a store are usually wrapped in DRM, which locks the chapter files. Only unencrypted EPUBs can be read.
- Illustrations are missing from the PDF. — Chapter text is converted, not the image files alongside it. Keep the EPUB for the artwork and use the PDF for reading or marking up the text.
- Chapters are in a strange order. — Some books have a broken spine, in which case the manifest order is used instead. Reorder by unticking chapters and converting in passes, then merge the PDFs.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my book uploaded anywhere during conversion?
- No. The EPUB is unzipped and read in this tab, so a manuscript or a review copy stays entirely on your device.
- Can it convert a book I bought from a store?
- Only if the file is not encrypted. DRM-protected books cannot be opened by anything but their own reading app, and this tool does not attempt to break that.
- Why is the PDF so much longer than the ebook's page count?
- An ebook has no fixed pages — the count you see on a reader depends on the font size. Fixing the text to a real page always produces a specific, usually larger, number.
- Will the table of contents become PDF bookmarks?
- Chapter titles are drawn as headings on the page, but PDF outline bookmarks are not written. The headings still make the document navigable by eye and by search.
- Which page size suits a novel best?
- A5 at a slightly smaller text size reads much like a paperback. A4 suits reference books where you want room for margin notes.
