About PDF to ZIP
Splitting a PDF usually means extracting a range into one new document. Sometimes what you need is the opposite: every page as its own file, numbered and zipped, ready to be attached, uploaded one at a time, or fed to something that only takes single pages. This tool does that in two ways. As PDFs, each page is copied with its text, fonts and vector artwork intact, so the pieces are still selectable and print at full quality. As PNG or JPG, each page is rasterised at a resolution you choose, which is what portals and print shops often insist on. File names are zero-padded so they sort correctly.

Common errors & troubleshooting
- The archive is much larger than the original PDF. — Images are the usual cause — rasterising throws away the compact vector description. Choose the PDF option, or drop the resolution.
- The download did not start. — Very large archives take a moment to assemble in memory. Wait for the button to report the file count and size, then press it.
- Only some pages are in the archive. — Image output covers the first 200 pages. Split the document into halves first if it is longer than that.
- The ZIP is bigger than the sum of its parts suggests. — The archive stores its entries without extra compression so it opens instantly everywhere, and PDFs and JPGs are already compressed — re-compressing them would gain almost nothing.

- Is my PDF uploaded to be split into an archive?

- Do the split PDFs keep their text?
- Yes. Each page is copied at the object level, so the text stays selectable and searchable and the fonts stay embedded.
- What resolution should I choose for printing?
- 216 dpi is a reasonable floor for print; below that, text edges start to look soft. For screen review, 144 dpi is plenty and keeps the archive small.
- How is this different from extracting a page range?
- A range extraction gives you one document containing those pages. This gives you one file per page, which is what upload portals and page-at-a-time workflows usually want.
- Can I choose which pages go into the archive?
