Pace Calculator Online
Calculate running pace, time, or distance and convert between minutes-per-km and minutes-per-mile, entirely on your device. A general estimate, not medical advice.
The Pace Calculator runs entirely in your browser. The distances, times, and paces you enter are never uploaded to ArrayKit, and the result is a general estimate, not medical advice.

About Pace Calculator
Pace Calculator solves running pace, finish time, or distance from whichever two values you already know, then shows the equivalent speed. Pick what you want to solve for, enter your distance, your target or actual time (as h:mm:ss), or a pace (as mm:ss), and the result updates instantly. Switch between kilometers and miles at any time — the underlying math stays consistent whether you train in min/km or min/mile. It is handy for planning a race split, checking a training pace against a goal finish time, or converting a treadmill speed into a pace you can picture. This is a general estimate using a standard formula, not medical advice — everything runs locally in your browser and your training numbers are never uploaded.
Features
- Solve for pace, time, or distance from the other two values
- Toggle between kilometers and miles without re-entering your numbers
- Accepts time and pace as h:mm:ss or mm:ss, plus plain seconds
- Shows the equivalent speed in km/h or mph alongside pace
- Instant recalculation as you type — no submit button needed
- Copy a plain-text summary of pace, time, distance, and speed
- Clear error message when a required field is missing or zero
- Runs entirely in your browser — your run data is never sent anywhere
How to use the Pace Calculator
- Choose what to solve for: pace, time, or distance
- Pick kilometers or miles
- Enter the other two known values
- Read the solved value plus the matching speed
- Copy the summary or switch units to compare
Example
Input
10 km in 50:00
Output
Pace: 5:00 /km (12 km/h)
50:00 total time ÷ 10 km = 5:00 per kilometer, which is 12 km/h.
Common errors & troubleshooting
- Result shows an error after entering a distance and time. — Check that time is typed as h:mm:ss or mm:ss (not a decimal like 50.5) and that every value is greater than 0.
- Pace looks right in km but wrong after switching to miles. — The Pace Calculator converts the underlying distance automatically, so re-enter or re-check the field for the unit you are now viewing — a km pace and a mile pace for the same run are naturally different numbers.
- Solving for distance gives an unexpectedly small number. — Confirm the pace field matches the unit toggle (mm:ss per km vs per mile) — mixing the two produces a distance that is off by roughly 1.6x.
- Speed value seems too high for a walking pace. — Speed is calculated from pace as 3600 ÷ pace in seconds, so a very fast (small) pace number, often a typo, produces an unrealistically high speed — double check the pace field.
Frequently asked questions
- What can the Pace Calculator solve for?
- It solves for pace, time, or distance — pick which one you want and enter the other two known values (for example distance and time to get pace, or pace and distance to get time).
- How does the Pace Calculator convert between km and miles?
- Toggle the unit selector and the calculator converts your entered distance and pace using the standard 1 mile = 1.609344 km factor, then recomputes the result in the new unit.
- What time format does the Pace Calculator accept?
- Enter time and pace as h:mm:ss (for longer runs) or mm:ss (for shorter distances or a per-km/per-mile pace), or as plain seconds.
- Is the Pace Calculator result medical advice?
- No. It is a general estimate from a standard time/distance formula, not medical advice. Talk to a coach or doctor before starting a new training or race plan.
- Does the Pace Calculator upload my run times?
- No. The Pace Calculator computes everything locally in your browser. The distances, times, and paces you enter are never uploaded to ArrayKit.
- How do I find my marathon finish time with the Pace Calculator?
- Switch to Time, enter 42.195 km (or 26.2 mi) as the distance and your target pace, and the calculator returns your projected finish time and average speed.
