About Grade Calculator

Grade Calculator combines your assignments, quizzes, tests, and exams into a single weighted course grade, and switches to a second mode that works backward to tell you the score you need on a remaining final exam to reach a target overall grade. Add as many graded items as your syllabus lists, enter each score and its weight, and the weighted average and letter grade update instantly. Students juggling multiple weighted categories, or checking whether an A is still reachable before finals week, get an immediate answer without building a spreadsheet. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your scores and grade targets never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Grade Calculator work out a weighted grade?
It multiplies each item's score by its weight, adds those together, and divides by the total weight, so grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight). This normalizes correctly even if your weights don't add up to exactly 100.
Can the Grade Calculator tell me what I need on my final exam?
Yes. Switch to the Needed on final mode, enter your current grade and its weight, your target overall grade, and the final exam's weight, and it solves for the required final-exam score.
What does it mean if the Grade Calculator says I need over 100% on the final?
It means the target grade is not achievable with the remaining weight available — even a perfect final-exam score would not reach it. Try a lower target to see what is realistic.
Does the Grade Calculator show a letter grade too?
Yes, the Weighted grade mode displays both the numeric percentage and a standard letter grade (A through F) next to it.
Do my scores or grades get uploaded when I use the Grade Calculator?
No. The Grade Calculator runs entirely in your browser — every score, weight, and target you type stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Can I add or remove graded items in the Grade Calculator?
Yes. Use Add item to include as many assignments, quizzes, or exams as your syllabus lists, and the trash icon on any row to remove one.
