Unzip Online

Open a ZIP file in your browser, browse the folders, preview text, images, audio and video, and extract one file or all of them. The archive never leaves your device.

The archive is opened and decompressed on your device. Nothing is uploaded to ArrayKit, and extracted files exist only in your browser until you download them.

About Unzip Files Online

The Unzip tool opens a ZIP archive and shows what is inside before you extract anything. Drop one archive or several, then browse the folder tree or switch to a flat list, filter it with the search box, and see each file's size, how much compression saved and its modified date. Click the eye to preview text, formatted JSON, images, audio or video straight from the archive, or download a single file without unpacking the rest. Tick a few files and download only those as a new ZIP, or take everything. Names that try to escape the target folder with .. or an absolute path are made safe, duplicate names never overwrite each other, and each file is checked against its stored checksum, so a damaged download is reported instead of silently saved.

Features

  • Browse a folder tree or a flat list with size, compression saved and modified date
  • Search by any part of a file name and sort by size, date or compression
  • Preview text, formatted JSON, images, audio and video without extracting the archive
  • Download one file, a hand-picked selection or everything as a new ZIP
  • Open several archives at once and switch between them
  • Unsafe paths with .. or drive letters are neutralised and duplicate names are kept apart
  • Each file is verified against the archive's checksum and size before it is saved
  • Clear messages for password-protected, split, ZIP64 and damaged archives

How to use the Unzip Files Online

  1. Drop a .zip file onto the page, or click to choose one or more archives
  2. Browse the folders, or type part of a name in the search box to filter the list
  3. Use the eye button to preview a file, or the download button to save just that one
  4. Tick the files you want and press Download selected as ZIP, or Download all as ZIP

Example

Input

holiday-photos.zip (212 MB)

Output

148 files · 12 folders · 236 MB unpacked · 10% saved
Search "IMG_20" → 37 files match
Selected 5 files (18.4 MB) → holiday-photos-selected.zip

Photos barely compress, so the saved percentage is small; the useful part is taking only the five you need.

Common errors & troubleshooting

  • The message says the archive is password-protected. — Encrypted entries are listed but cannot be opened here. Extract them with the tool that created the archive and enter the password there.
  • The file is rejected as not a ZIP archive. — It may be a different format such as RAR, 7z or tar.gz, or a download that stopped early. Check the extension and download the file again; a truncated archive has no directory at its end.
  • A file shows a checksum mismatch. — The stored data does not match the checksum recorded in the archive, which means the file was damaged in transit or storage. Download the archive again and retry.
  • A very large archive is slow or fails to open. — The whole archive is read into memory on your device. Close other tabs, try a desktop computer, or open it with a desktop archiver if it is several gigabytes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I extract just one file from a ZIP without unpacking everything?
Yes. Open the archive, find the file in the tree or with the search box, and press its download button. Only that entry is decompressed, so a single document inside a multi-gigabyte archive is quick to get.
Does the Unzip tool support password-protected ZIP files?
No. Encrypted entries are detected and listed with a clear label, but they are not opened and no password is requested. Other files in the same archive that are not encrypted still extract normally.
What makes extracting from this unzip page safe?
Every stored name is sanitised before saving: .. segments, leading slashes and drive letters are removed so a file cannot land outside the folder you chose, and names that clash are renamed with (2), (3) rather than overwritten. Sizes are also capped at what the archive declares.
Which kinds of files can I preview inside a ZIP?
Plain text and code, JSON shown with indentation, images such as PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG, plus audio and video that your browser can play. Other types show a note and can still be downloaded.
Can I open DOCX, XLSX, EPUB or APK files with it?
Those formats are ZIP archives underneath, so the tool lists their parts, for example the images inside a Word document or the chapters of an EPUB. There is no need to rename them; drop the file in as it is.
Is the archive sent anywhere when I open it for extraction?
No. The file is read into your browser's memory and decompressed there. Nothing is uploaded, which makes it suitable for confidential archives that you would rather not hand to an online converter.
