Online Notepad
Write notes in your browser and they save as you type, with several notes, search, a word count and .txt export. Your notes stay on this device and nothing is uploaded.
Your notes are saved in this browser's storage on your device and are never uploaded, so clearing site data deletes them: download a backup now and then. They are not encrypted, so anyone who can use this browser profile can read them.
The Online Notepad is a plain-text notebook that lives in your browser. Type in the editor and each change is written to this browser about half a second after you pause, and again the moment you switch tabs or close the page, so a sudden shutdown costs you almost nothing. Keep as many notes as you like: every note takes its title from its first line, the list is searchable, and the footer counts words, characters, lines and reading time. Download one note as a .txt file, all of them as a .zip, or everything as a .json backup you can import later. Open the notepad in two tabs and they stay in step without overwriting each other's newer notes. Your notes are stored on your device only, and nothing is uploaded.
Features

Live counts of words, characters, lines and reading time that keep up with notes over a megabyte long
Text size, monospace, line wrapping and spellcheck settings that are remembered between visits
Copy, download as .txt, print, duplicate and clear a note, with a confirmation before anything is deleted
Download all notes as a .zip of text files or one .json backup, import a backup, or open .txt, .md, .csv and .json files as new notes
Tabs stay in sync, and a warning appears if the browser's storage is full or blocked so you can download your notes in time
How to use the Online Notepad
Start typing in the editor; the first line becomes the note's title, and the chip above the note shows when it was last saved.
Press New note, or Ctrl/⌘ + Alt + N, for another note, and use the search box to find one by any word it contains.
Use Copy, Download .txt or Print for the open note, or Download all (.zip) and Backup (.json) for every note.
Return in the same browser whenever you like and your notes are waiting; import a backup to move them to another device.

Common errors & troubleshooting
My notes disappeared after I cleared my browser history. — Notes live in the same storage as cookies and site data, so clearing cookies and site data deletes them for good. Download a .json backup now and then, and import it to bring everything back.
The chip says Could not save — storage is full or blocked. — The browser refused the write, usually because storage for this site is full or a privacy setting blocks it. Your text is still on the page, so use Download all or Backup (.json) before closing the tab, then delete notes you no longer need or allow storage for this site.
My notes are not on my other computer or phone. — Notes are saved per browser and per device, and nothing syncs between them. Use Backup (.json) on one device and Import backup on the other, or Download all to get plain .txt files.
Notes I wrote in a private window are gone. — A private window erases its storage when it closes, so nothing written there survives. Write in a normal window, or download the notes before you close the private one.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the Online Notepad store my notes, and who can read them?
Notes are saved in your browser's storage on your own device. They are never uploaded, so ArrayKit does not receive them. They are not encrypted either: anyone who can open this browser profile on this device can open the notepad and read them. On a shared computer, use a private window or delete your notes when you finish.
What happens to my Online Notepad notes if I clear my browser data?
They are deleted. Clearing cookies and site data, resetting the browser or uninstalling it removes this site's storage, and the notes cannot be recovered because no other copy exists. Some browsers, Safari in particular, may also clear a site's storage on their own if you do not visit it for about a week. Download a .zip or a .json backup now and then, and import the .json to restore your notes afterwards.
How many notes can the Online Notepad hold, and how long can a note be?
The notepad sets no limit of its own. The limit is the storage your browser gives each site, usually about 5 MB for everything saved here, which is millions of characters. You are warned as it fills, and the status chip says Could not save if the browser refuses a write. A note of a megabyte or more still works, but very long notes slow down any text box, so split them if typing starts to lag.
How do I move my Online Notepad notes to another device?
There is no sync, because your notes never leave your browser. On the first device choose Backup (.json) and carry the file across, then choose Import backup on the other device. Notes already there are kept, and a newer copy of the same note replaces an older one. Download all gives plain .txt files if you only need the text.
Does the Online Notepad work without an internet connection?
Once the page has finished loading, typing, searching, saving, counting and exporting need no connection at all, so you can keep writing if your connection drops. Reopening or reloading the page while offline works only if your browser still has it cached, so do not rely on that.
Can I recover a note I deleted by accident in the Online Notepad?
No. Deleting asks you to confirm, and after that the note is gone from this browser: there is no trash, no undo history and no copy anywhere else. Deletions also carry over to other tabs you have open. The only way back is a backup, so import a .json backup you made earlier or reopen a downloaded .txt file as a new note.
