Common errors & troubleshooting
- Tax amount looks ten times too small or too large. — Enter the rate as a whole percentage, e.g. 8 for 8%, not 0.08 — the Sales Tax Calculator multiplies by rate% / 100 internally.
- Removed tax from a total but the pre-tax amount doesn't match the receipt. — Make sure Remove tax mode is selected and the amount entered is the tax-included total, not the pre-tax price — the two modes solve in opposite directions.
- Result shows a banner instead of a total. — Check that both the amount and the tax rate are 0 or more; negative figures are not valid sales tax inputs.
