About Time Card Calculator
The Time Card Calculator turns a week of clock-in and clock-out times into daily and weekly work hours, so you do not have to add up a timesheet by hand. Enter a clock-in and clock-out time for each day worked, plus any unpaid break minutes, and it subtracts the break from the shift length to get net hours per day. Overnight shifts are handled automatically — if clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the calculator treats it as crossing into the next day. Add an hourly rate and it also estimates gross pay for the week from the total hours. It is built for hourly employees, freelancers, and small-business owners checking a timesheet before payroll runs. Every row you enter is calculated locally in your browser, so your schedule and pay figures never leave your device.

Common errors & troubleshooting
- A day shows a red border and the total will not calculate. — That day has only a clock-in or only a clock-out time filled in — enter both, or clear the field entirely to skip the day.
- An overnight shift is showing far more hours than expected. — When clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the Time Card Calculator assumes the shift crosses midnight and adds a day. Double-check the clock-out time if the shift was not actually overnight.
- The break minutes make a short shift show 0 hours. — The calculator never goes negative — if the break is longer than the time between clock-in and clock-out, that day is reported as 0 hours worked.
- Estimated pay is not showing up. — Pay only appears once a positive hourly rate is entered; leave it blank if you only need the hours total.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the Time Card Calculator handle unpaid breaks?
- For each day, it subtracts the break minutes you enter from the time between clock-in and clock-out, so the daily hours shown are always net worked time, not the raw shift length.
- Can the Time Card Calculator handle an overnight shift?
- Yes. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, such as 22:00 to 06:00, it treats the shift as crossing midnight and reports the correct number of hours instead of a negative value.
- Does the Time Card Calculator estimate my pay?
- It can. Enter an hourly rate in the optional field and the weekly total hours are multiplied by that rate to show an estimated gross pay figure alongside the hours.
- What happens if I leave a day blank in the time card?
- A blank day with no clock-in or clock-out time is treated as a day off and counted as 0 hours — it will not trigger an error or affect the weekly total.
- Is the Time Card Calculator accurate enough for real payroll?
- It is designed for quick, accurate estimates from the times and break minutes you enter. For official payroll, confirm the totals against your employer's timekeeping system or policy on rounding.
- Does the Time Card Calculator upload my schedule or pay rate?
- No. Every clock-in, clock-out, break, and hourly rate you type is calculated locally in your browser and is never sent to ArrayKit or anywhere else.
