QR Code Reader & Scanner Online
Drop a screenshot, paste an image or point your camera: every QR code is decoded on your device and explained before anything opens.
Pictures and camera frames are read in this tab and never uploaded. The camera is released the moment you stop, and the session list lives in memory only.
The QR Code Reader turns a picture of a QR code into the text it holds, then tells you what that text is before anything opens. Drop a screenshot, choose photos, paste an image from the clipboard, or point your camera at a code. Every code in the picture is located, including several side by side, and light-on-dark codes are tried automatically. Each result shows the raw text next to a breakdown: a link is checked for look-alike domains, shorteners and unencrypted http, a Wi-Fi code lists the network and hides the password until you reveal it, and contacts and calendar events can be saved as files. Nothing is opened for you, and the whole read happens on your device.
Features
Reads codes from screenshots, photos, pasted images and a live camera
Finds several codes in one picture and outlines each one on a preview
Tries inverted light-on-dark codes and shrinks very large photos before reading
Explains the content: links, Wi-Fi, contacts, calendar events, payments, phone numbers and plain text
Checks links for look-alike domains, shorteners, raw IP addresses and unencrypted http
Never opens anything on its own — a risky link needs a second, deliberate click
Camera mode with a device picker, torch, continuous scanning and a beep or vibration on each hit
Session list with Copy all and CSV export, kept only in this tab
How to use the QR Code Reader
Choose Image to drop, pick or paste a picture, or choose Camera and press Start camera
Wait a moment while every code in the picture is located and decoded
Read the type badge, the raw text and the parsed fields, and copy what you need

Common errors & troubleshooting
No code is found in a picture that clearly contains one. — The code is probably cut off or too small in the frame. Include the whole code with its blank border, crop closer to it, and use the original file instead of a screenshot of a screenshot.
A phone photo of a computer screen will not read. — Photographing a screen adds moiré lines that break the pattern. Take a screenshot of the code instead, or shoot straight on with the screen brightness turned up.
The camera does not start. — Allow camera access from the icon in the address bar, close other apps that are using the camera, and make sure the page is open over https. Image mode works without a camera.
The text shows odd characters. — The code stores bytes that are not valid UTF-8, so the reader falls back to Latin-1 and says so. Open Technical details to see the exact bytes as a hex dump.
Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot or photo with the QR Code Reader?
Choose Image, then drop the file onto the page, click to pick it, or paste it with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac). The code is found and decoded right away. For a photo, keep the code flat, in focus and fully in frame; for a screenshot, crop it so the code fills a good part of the picture.
Why won't the QR Code Reader find the code in my picture?
The usual causes are a missing blank border around the code, blur or glare, a code that is very small in a large photo, or a screen photographed with a phone. Inverted codes (light modules on a dark background) are tried automatically, so those are rarely the problem. The reader lists tips matched to the size of your image.
Does the QR Code Reader upload my image or camera feed?
No. Images are decoded in this tab, and camera frames are analysed one by one in memory and discarded. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere, and the camera is released as soon as you press Stop or leave the page.
Can the QR Code Reader read more than one code in a single image?
Yes. It decodes one code, blanks it out and looks again, so a sheet of labels or a ticket with two codes gives one numbered result per code. Each is outlined on the preview so you can match it to its result.
What should I check before opening a link from a decoded QR code?
Look at the real host in bold, not the page name it promises. Be wary of shortened links, addresses that are only numbers, look-alike letters from other alphabets, an @ sign before the host, and plain http. Sticker codes pasted over a real one are a common trick, so the reader flags risky links and asks for a second click.
Which kinds of QR content does the QR Code Reader understand?
Web links, Wi-Fi network details, contacts (vCard and MECARD), email, phone and SMS links, map locations, calendar events, WhatsApp chat links, one-time-password setups, and payment codes such as UPI, Pix, SEPA transfers and Bitcoin. Anything else is shown as plain text.
