UPI QR Code Generator

Turn a UPI ID into a payment QR code with an optional amount and note, then print a ready Scan to pay card, all built in your browser.

The UPI QR Code Generator builds the link and draws the code in your browser. Your UPI ID, name and amount are never uploaded, and the tool never contacts a bank or a payment app.

About UPI QR Code Generator

UPI QR Code Generator builds the square a customer scans with any UPI app to pay you. The code carries a upi://pay link holding your UPI ID, the payee name and, if you choose, a prefilled amount, a note and a transaction reference. Values are percent-encoded so names with spaces, ampersands or accents survive, and optional parameters are left out instead of being sent empty. The form checks the UPI ID format, limits the note to 50 characters, keeps the reference alphanumeric and normalises the amount to two decimals. A printable Scan to pay card in A6, A5 or A4 carries the code, payee name and UPI ID for a shop counter. The tool only builds the QR code: it does not process payments, and nothing you enter leaves your device.

Features

  • Builds the standard upi://pay link with payee address, name, amount, currency, note, reference and merchant code
  • Checks the UPI ID format as you type and recognises common bank handles
  • Optional amount normalised to two decimals, accepting commas and the rupee sign
  • Percent-encodes names, notes and symbols so the link survives every scanner
  • Printable Scan to pay card in A6, A5 or A4 showing payee name, UPI ID and amount
  • Colour and quiet-zone options with a live read-back check on the finished image
  • Copy the upi:// link for an invoice, a message or a button on your website
  • PNG and SVG download for print shops and signage

How to use the UPI QR Code Generator

  1. Enter the UPI ID exactly as the payee's app shows it, then the payee name
  2. Leave the amount empty for a code the payer fills in, or type one to prefill it
  3. Optionally add a note, a transaction reference or a merchant category code
  4. Download the QR code, copy the link, or print the Scan to pay card

Example

Input

UPI ID: shop@upi
Payee: City Bakery
Amount: 250
Note: Order 42

Output

upi://pay?pa=shop@upi&pn=City%20Bakery&am=250.00&cu=INR&tn=Order%2042

Spaces become %20 and the amount always carries two decimals.

Common errors & troubleshooting

  • The payer's app says the UPI ID is invalid or the payment fails. — Look for typos in the ID. It is letters, digits, dots, hyphens or underscores, then @ and the bank handle. Confirm the exact ID with the payee and paste it rather than retyping it.
  • The amount is not prefilled in the payer's app. — Check that the amount is a plain number with at most two decimals. Some apps let the payer change a prefilled amount and a few ignore it, so the payer may still need to type it.
  • The payee name in the app differs from the name in the code. — Apps show the name registered with the bank for that UPI ID, not the one typed here. A mismatch usually means the ID is wrong or belongs to someone else, so check it before paying.
  • The note looks cut short. — The note is limited to 50 characters and some apps trim sooner. Keep it to an order number or a short label.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does a UPI QR code contain?
A upi://pay link made of named parameters: pa is the payee's UPI ID, pn the payee name, am the amount, cu the currency (INR), tn a note, tr a transaction reference and mc a merchant category code. The scanning app reads those and opens its payment screen.
What is the difference between a static UPI QR code and one with the amount filled in?
Without an amount the payer types it, so one printed code serves every sale. With an amount the app shows it prefilled, which suits an invoice or a fixed-price item, but you need a separate code for each amount.
Why does the payee name in a UPI QR code matter?
The payer's app shows the name before they confirm. A name that does not match the account is the clearest sign of a wrong or fake code, so use your real business or personal name and ask customers to check it before paying.
Does the UPI QR Code Generator move money or keep my UPI ID?
No. It only builds a code in your browser. The payment itself happens in the payer's UPI app and bank, which this page never contacts, and the UPI ID you type is not uploaded or stored.
Can I print a counter card straight from the UPI QR code?
Yes. The Scan to pay card lays out the code with the payee name, UPI ID and amount, in A6, A5 or A4. Press Print card and use the browser's print dialog, or choose Save as PDF to send it to a print shop.
What limits does the tool put on the UPI note, reference and merchant code?
The note is capped at 50 characters, the transaction reference at 35 letters and digits, and the merchant category code at four digits. Those limits keep the link within what UPI apps reliably accept, though an individual app may trim further.
