About AI Text Summarizer
This AI text summarizer condenses long passages into a short, readable summary without sending your words anywhere. The first time you use it, a compact summarization model downloads once and is cached by your browser; every summary after that is generated on your own device, so the article, email, report or notes you paste stay private and the tool keeps working even offline. Choose a short, medium or long summary depending on how much detail you want to keep, then copy the result in one click. It is handy for turning a wall of text into a quick TL;DR, skimming a report before a meeting, tightening your own writing, or getting the gist of documentation. Because the model reads roughly the first several hundred words of the input, it works best on focused passages; very long documents are summarized from their opening section.

Example
Input
The city council voted 7 to 2 on Tuesday to approve a new bike-lane network that will add 40 miles of protected lanes over the next three years, funded by a mix of state grants and a small increase in parking fees...
Output
The city council approved a plan to add 40 miles of protected bike lanes over three years, paid for by state grants and higher parking fees.
A medium-length summary keeps the key facts and drops the detail.
Common errors & troubleshooting
- The first summary takes a while to start. — The model downloads once on first use and is then cached; later summaries begin almost instantly, even offline.
- A very long document only seems to summarize the beginning. — The model reads about the first several hundred words, so split long documents into sections and summarize each one.
- The summary is shorter or longer than you wanted. — Switch between the Short, Medium and Long presets and summarize again to change how much detail is kept.
- The Summarize button is disabled. — Add a bit more text — a useful summary needs at least about twenty words of input.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my text sent to a server to be summarized?
- No. The summarization model runs directly in your browser, so the text you paste is processed on your own device and is never uploaded.
- Why does the first summary need a download?
- The AI model has to be fetched once before it can run locally. It is cached afterwards, so subsequent summaries start immediately and even work without a connection.
- How long can the input be?
- You can paste as much as you like, but the model reads roughly the first several hundred words. For long documents, summarize section by section for the best results.
- Can I control the length of the summary?
- Yes. Choose Short, Medium or Long before summarizing to trade brevity against how much detail the summary keeps.
- Can I summarize text offline?
- After the one-time model download, yes — because everything runs on your device, you can summarize text with no network connection.
- What kind of text works best?
- Focused prose such as articles, emails, reports, documentation and notes summarizes well. Highly technical tables or code are less suited to a text summary.
