Word Cloud Generator
Turn any text into a word cloud — the most frequent words drawn largest — then download it as a transparent PNG or an SVG, laid out entirely in your browser.
The text is read, counted and drawn in this tab and is never uploaded, so drafts, internal documents and survey answers are safe to use.
The Word Cloud Generator counts the words in your text and draws the most frequent ones largest. Reading is Unicode-aware, so accented letters, Cyrillic and other scripts work, apostrophes and hyphens stay inside words, and Chinese or Japanese text is split into words by the browser where it can. Common words such as articles and prepositions can be filtered out in six languages, links and numbers can be ignored, and one click on a word in the cloud removes it and lays the rest out again. Choose a rectangle, ellipse, circle or heart, horizontal, mixed or tilted words, a palette and a font. A seed makes the layout repeatable, and Shuffle tries another arrangement. Nothing is uploaded.

Three lines of text with English stop words removed: ties are listed alphabetically, and the cloud sizes each word from its count.
Common errors & troubleshooting
A word I expected is missing from the cloud. — It may be shorter than the minimum length (three letters by default), on the stop-word list, a number, or part of a link. Lower the shortest word, set the stop-word language to None, or clear the Also ignore box.
Common words such as the or and still dominate the cloud. — Pick the stop-word language that matches your text. The built-in lists cover English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Russian; for any other language, add the unwanted words to Also ignore.
Some words did not fit and are listed under the cloud. — Turn on auto-size, choose a larger canvas, lower the largest word size or show fewer words. Words that cannot fit are named so nothing disappears silently.
The cloud seems to ignore the end of a very long text. — Only about the first 2 MB of text is read, and a notice says so. Paste the most relevant part, or split the text and make one cloud for each piece.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Word Cloud Generator decide how big each word is?
Size follows count: the most frequent word gets the largest size and the least frequent the smallest. The scale option decides how the counts in between are spread — linear follows them exactly, while square root and logarithmic soften the gaps so a few very common words do not shrink everything else.
What are stop words and why does the Word Cloud Generator remove them?
Stop words are the very common function words — the, and, of, de, und, и — that turn up in every text and say nothing about its topic. Removing them lets the subject words stand out. Lists for six languages are built in, and you can add your own words to ignore.
How do I remove a single word from my word cloud?
Click it in the cloud, or press the × beside it in the Top words table. The word joins the Also ignore list and the cloud is laid out again. Use Undo straight away, or click its chip under Left out of the cloud to bring it back. On a touch screen, tap a word once to see it and again to remove it.
Can I make a word cloud from a list of words with weights?
Yes. Switch to Word list and write one entry per line: the word, a comma and its weight, such as ArrayKit, 12. Phrases like machine learning, 30 work too, and a line with no number counts as 1. Weights can be any positive number, for example survey scores or search volumes.
How do I get a word cloud PNG with a transparent background for slides?
Set Background to Transparent and download the PNG. The checkerboard in the preview only shows where the image is see-through. The SVG export keeps every word as a real text element, so it can be recoloured in a design tool.
Does the Word Cloud Generator work for languages other than English?
Yes. Words are read in any script, including accented Latin letters, Cyrillic and Greek, and Chinese or Japanese text is split into words with the browser's own word segmentation where it is available. Stop-word lists cover six languages; for others, add the unwanted words to the ignore list.
