About Click Speed Test (CPS)

The Click Speed Test counts how many times you can press the pad in a chosen time and turns it into clicks per second. Pick 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds, then click: the clock starts on your first click, and every press is counted the instant the button goes down, so very fast taps are never merged or lost. Average CPS is your clicks divided by the full duration. Peak CPS is the most clicks inside any single second, found with a sliding window, and a bar chart shows every half second. A rating runs from Beginner to Elite, and personal bests are saved per test length. You can also count right-clicks or the Space bar, and touchscreens work too. Everything is counted on your device and saved only in this browser.

Features

  • Eight test lengths from 1 to 60 seconds, so a 5-second score is never mixed up with a 10-second one
  • Presses counted the instant the button goes down, so fast taps are not lost to click merging
  • Average CPS and peak CPS, the busiest single second of your run
  • A bar chart of clicks in every half second, with the fastest half second highlighted
  • Optional counting of right-clicks and of the Space bar
  • Works with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen, with extra fingers counted as extra presses
  • A rating from Beginner to Elite, a personal best per test length and your last 10 results
  • Copies a one-line result summary in one click

How to use the Click Speed Test (CPS)

  1. Choose a test length; 5 or 10 seconds is the usual comparison
  2. Click the pad once to start, since the clock begins with that first click
  3. Keep clicking until the time runs out
  4. Read your average and peak CPS, look at the chart, then press Enter or Space to try again

Example

Input

Test length: 10 s
Clicks counted before time ran out: 84

Output

8.4 CPS · 84 clicks / 10 s · peak 10.0 CPS
Rating: Fast (7–10 CPS)

Average CPS is 84 ÷ 10 s; the peak is the most clicks that fell inside any one second.

Common errors & troubleshooting

  • My score is lower than on other click counters. — Counters differ in test length, in whether the first click starts the clock, and in how they count presses. Compare scores only for the same length on the same device; a 10-second score is normally lower than a 1-second one.
  • Some clicks do not seem to count. — Only the left button counts by default. Switch on right-clicks or the Space bar if you use them, keep the pointer inside the pad, and click the pad once so it has focus before pressing Space.
  • The page scrolls or zooms while I tap on my phone. — The pad blocks double-tap zoom and text selection. If the page still moves, tap well inside the pad rather than at its edge.
  • I pressed Enter or Space and nothing restarted. — They bring the pad back only after a run has finished, and only after a short pause so trailing presses are not mistaken for a restart. During a run, Space counts only if you switched that option on.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good CPS on the Click Speed Test?
A focused single-finger click usually measures around 6 to 7 CPS in a short test and less over longer ones. This tool rates under 3 as Beginner, 3 to 5 Average, 5 to 7 Above average, 7 to 10 Fast, 10 to 14 Very fast and 14 or more Elite; scores above 10 usually involve jitter or butterfly clicking.
How does the Click Speed Test calculate clicks per second?
Average CPS is your counted clicks divided by the full test length in seconds. Peak CPS is the largest number of clicks that fit inside any one-second window, and two clicks exactly one second apart do not share a window. The clock starts on your first click, and a click that arrives after time is up is not counted.
What is the difference between a 5-second and a 10-second click test?
A shorter test lets you sprint, so it scores higher. A longer one shows what you can sustain, because your hand tires and your rhythm drifts. Average CPS falls as the duration rises, so only compare tests of the same length.
Do touchscreens count on the click speed test?
Yes. Each tap registers as a press, and extra fingers count as extra presses, but screen response and finger size often cap the speed below what a mouse allows. Compare touch scores with other touch scores.
Is jitter or butterfly clicking allowed on this CPS test?
Nothing is blocked: the test counts every press the browser reports, so it simply measures what your technique delivers. Very high scores also depend on your mouse switches, polling rate and surface, so treat them as a measure of the whole setup rather than of you alone.
Why do my CPS scores differ between devices?
Mice, trackpads and touchscreens register presses differently: switch travel, debounce settings, polling rate and screen sensitivity all vary, and your hand posture changes too. Use one device for comparisons and note the test length alongside the score.
